Mikel has been in private practice since 1982. He began the practice of law in Anchorage, Alaska in 1982, eventually heading the firm of Miller, Joyner & Associates. The firm emphasized Personal Injury, Civil Rights, Bankruptcy and Family Law.
In 1991 Mike moved to Bend where he worked for a small firm until opening his practice in 1994 with an emphasis in criminal, juvenile, family law, probate and wills. While representing families, he developed a passion for parent’s rights. Much of his practice is now devoted to Civil Rights cases where he attempts to hold the police and DHS accountable for harming citizens.
He is an active member of the Oregon State Bar, and an inactive member of the Alaskan State Bar. He is qualified to appear before the United States District Court of Oregon, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He represents clients from Central, Eastern and Southern Oregon.
